The immediate vicinity of greenery in the city and untouched nature outside the city and the river Drava have lured citizens of Osijek to spend their time outdoors for recreation and rest. In the second half of the 20th century in the near vicinity a popular spa resort opened in the village of Bizovac. In recent years the Bizovac Spa (Bizovačke Toplice) underwent new investments in health and wellness tourism. Because of thermal water springs which are said to be relicts of the ancient Pannonian Sea this spa resort is known throw-out the region.
