Have fun during your stay in Osijek by visiting a theatre performance. In the city there are two theatre buildings, the Croatian National Theatre built in the mid-19th century and the children's theatre "Branko Mihaljević".

Croatian National Theatre (Hrvatsko Narodno Kazalište)

Theatre building in Osijek was built in 1866 in the Županijska ulica Street near the main square. The Croatian National Theatre was founded in 1907. The building is neo-Moorish facade and neo-baroque auditorium style typical for all the country's that formed the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Theatre will offer you a wide selection of drama, comedy, ballet, opera and operetta shows and especially popular are New Year’s concerts which bring us a touch of "Viennese New Year's glamor".

Children's Theatre “Branko Mihaljević”

Children's Theatre in Osijek was founded in 1950 and it was named after one of the most famous theatre and music professionals Branko Mihaljević, author of the popular children's song "Zeko i potočić" (“The bunny rabbit and the creek”). Successful performances which made this theatre known during the 70’s and 80’s are Zeko, zriko i janje (“Rabbit, Cricket and the Lamb”) and "Postolar i vrag” (“The Shoemaker and the devil").
